Good Friday, April 10th

Posted by Patrick Fitzgerald at Apr 10, 2020 1:16AM PDT

Hello to all,
Today is Good Friday. Don’t forget to take some time to think about the significance of today!
You guys have had a good week of training, so today is a good day to get some time on the legs in to round out the week. For today’s practice you will start by watching the “Friday Feature” video , and then follow your specific training plan for today.
Also, today’s Friday! Which means it’s time to get in communication with your small groups. Keep up the conversation / the encouragement. We are all individually, in this together ! So stay positive and encouraged.
Proud of you all!
Coach Patrick

I read today’s forecast and it made me think of Winnie the Pooh’s book/video “A Cold Blustery Day”. Yes, Winnie the Pooh is still cool to me!!!
Let’s take advantage of the wind that is expected today and run with the wind at our back to push us along for that added gear that we always like to find during a race.

Typical warm up and drills

8 × 40 meters. (with the wind at your back) Go as fast as you can, but do not fully recover in between sprints. Take about a 60-80 second break in between each one. On each recovery, do a mental check on your running form.

Go for a slow cool down jog of 5 minutes.

Find a video of your choice to work your hip mobility inside out of the weather.

Hello everyone!
Hoping you were able to enjoy your day off yesterday.
Today is a workout day. All groups will be focusing on the strength side of running. In other words, these are generally the uncomfortable workouts. The goal is to be in an uncomfortable state for the entirety of your workout; without crossing into a racing effort.
For my distance runners don’t go out to fast the first 5 minutes. Set a solid pace and stay consistent. Sprinters and jumpers can be a little more aggressive as you can jog as slow as you would like to get your heart rate down between repeats. Just don’t walk.
Ok everyone! Go out there with some “GRIT” today.
You’re awesome,
Coach Patrick

Hi everyone,

I hope the meet went well yesterday and “events” went the way you wanted them too! It was definitely a Top 10 weather day.

Just like after the last meet, make today a time to work your muscles differently. Get outside and do something other than track motions. Basketball, Volleyball, Frisbee catch, etc.

Afterwards, do a nice long stretch. If able, have a family member partner stretch you!

We’ll do some speed work tomorrow.

With all of you working hard, it’s time to take a midweek break. This is a great opportunity to allow your body to recover from repetitive motions & impact. It’s a great day to get hydrated, and address any soreness or tightness. It’s also a good day to appreciate all your hard work thus far; pushing you forward the rest of the week.
You still have two videos to watch. First, the “Encouragement” video, followed by the “Parable” video.
Today is not a day to skip your videos or neglect your body. Enjoy this time to freshen up! You all are doing so great.
